I'd like to thank you for your hard work to make the 1st Armenian Women Artists Exhibit a success. I hope there will be several others following this one. I have no pictures to contribute except the one with you,Tamar, and the other one was posted in the blog, while I was commenting on my own art. The Opening night was quite full and very pleasant to meet new people and mingle with other artists. The Artists Discussion was quite exciting and fruitful.
This exhibition is a celebration of unity. Bringing artists with shared Armenian roots but diverse cultural influences under one roof in NYC the exhibition will explore how their individual experiences are expressed in their art. The show is unique not only for the differing cultural backgrounds that the artists are coming from, but also for the diversity of styles and mediums that they are creating in.
The history of Armenian art is not rich with famous women artists and the few female artists of the past century did not receive the recognition they deserved. Today we can proudly announce that already many artists of this exhibition have their stable place in the contemporary art scene.
Featuring 23 Armenian female artists, born in Armenia, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey and the US the exhibition will create a social and professional network between the artists and will increase the appreciation and the awareness of their art inside and outside the Armenian Community.
The exhibition will run till November 3rd at the Village Quill in TriBeCa 106 Franklin St., 2nd floor 212.226.0442 http://www.villagequill.com/
